This page covers the workshops I will be running at Stone Creek Barn - more will be added in due course, so you might like to keep an eye on this page. Summer schools have a section of their own here. Please note that the maximum number of students per workshop is 4 unless otherwise stated.

NB All workshops and summer schools can now be booked through the online shop or through the post using an order form and cheque/credit card details. Please see details at the end of this page

Workshops
Saturday 15 August 2009 Cyanotypes on Fabric

This workshop is an introduction to the wonderful techniques of cyanotyping on fabric; a method from 1841 for producing beautiful, detailed white photographic images on a Prussian blue background. We will cover preparing the light sensitive fabric and producing photograms (printing flowers, foliage, lace and many other objects). We will also cover producing digital negatives for use with cyanotyping.

Saturday 24 October 2009 Photoshop Elements for Textiles

A fascinating day learning how to prepare digital images for textile work. Find out how to remove backgrounds, simplify colours for embroidery designs, turn a colour photo into black and white for use with print screens, how to re-size images and more...

NB This can be booked as a standalone workshop or can be booked in conjunction with the Digital Images on Fabric workshop the following day - see below - to make a digital/fabric weekend.

Sunday 25 October 2009 Digital Images on Fabric

This workshop will cover various methods for transferring your digital images on to fabric including printing directly onto your fabric with inkjet and laser printers, using transfer paper and transfer methods using citrasolv or textile medium.

As usual workshops will run from 10.00am to 4.00pm and will take place at Stone Creek Barn to the east of Hull. Each teaching day costs £60 per person. This includes tuition and a basic kit of fabrics, dyes etc which will cover the workshop. More will usually be available for purchase if required. Tea, coffee and biscuits, as desired, are also provided along with a light lunch of the quiche and salad/jacket potato/soup and a roll type.

Bookings:The cost DOESN'T include accommodation. There are two excellent bed and breakfast places near here (individual accommodation rather than 'stay with the family' - approx £30 a night inc full English breakfast) or there are small hotels if you don't mind travelling a little further, or a full range of accommodation in Hull (approx. 15 miles).

If you aren't familiar with Stone Creek Barn then have a look at this page. One thing I need to mention is that the barn isn't suitable for wheelchair users - it has a narrow entrance door and steep steps up to the first floor.

If you are interested and would like to book, you can do this in two ways.
1. Manually: You can either download, print and complete the printable booking form and return it to me with a non-refundable deposit of £15 per day, payable by cheque or credit/debit card. Or
2. On-line: You can now book on-line here and pay the deposit by credit/debit card or Paypal balance.

Whichever way you book the balance is due for payment four weeks before the date of the school.

Please make sure your contact details are clear and correct including a phone number in case I need to get hold of you at the last minute. A short list of equipment to bring (if possible) will be sent out a couple of weeks before the workshop. I am able to accept payment by cheque or by any of the major debit/credit cards (except American Express).

Cancellation: If you cancel your booking within four weeks of the workshop then full payment will still be due unless I can fill the place (which I often can if I have enough time). If I have to cancel a workshop then a full refund will be made.
